The history of Tunturi

The history of Tunturi started in 1922, when the Harkke brothers opened a small cycle shop in Turku, Finland. Several years later, this small shop had become what was considered to be a very modern factory for those times, and by the 1950s they had become market leader in mopeds.

On the back of their technology and experience in the manufacture of bicycles, Tunturi went on to invest in product development of fitness equipment. In the 1970s they became recognised internationally as a producer of fitness equipment. In 2003, the brand was bought by Accell, one of the established European leaders in the production and sales of fitness equipment, thereby providing a strong endorsement for the future of the company.
